Graduates show their final work

AMFI-Amsterdam Fashion Institute presents Fashion Transit 09

On Thursday 25 June 2009 the AMFI, part of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, has organized the graduation event Fashion Transit 09 in the World Fashion Centre Amsterdam. Fashion Transit 09 offers over 130 Branding, Management and Design graduates a platform to present their work through an exhibition, catwalk show and talk show.

Exhibition: Product vs. Process

At the exhibition not only the graduates’ final products will be shown, but also the process that led to these results. A sketch, concept or sample can be just as inspiring as a thesis, collection, brand manual or forecasting book. Showing the processes behind the final products gives an interesting insight into the talent of the 2009 graduates.

Catwalk show

The Fashion Transit catwalk shows the collections of more than 30 graduates from the Fashion & Design department. Diversity and personality are the core values underpinning the collections by the designers. In these uncertain times their signatures have never been more certain. No question of recession, rather reflection and progression.

Talk show

During the Fashion Transit Talk show, three Branding and Management graduates will enter into conversation with professionals on the topic ‘Happy Crisis’. The topic will be approached from a historical, business and educational point of view. Moderator, Bahram Sadeghi (the Balie), will ask three speakers to share their thoughts: Nanda van den Berg (art history), Henk Bremer (Vlisco company) and Liesbeth in ‘t Hout (AMFI the school).

Mint magazine

During Fashion Transit 09 the annual AMFI-magazine combined with the AMFI graduation book will also be launched. The 2009 edition is named Mint. Under the supervision of teachers Frank Jurgen Wijlens and Charlotte Lokin, third year AMFI-students are responsible for the concept, content, design and production of the magazine.

Studenten tonen eindexamenwerk

AMFI-Amsterdam Fashion Institute presenteert Fashion Transit 09

Op donderdag 25 juni 2009 organiseert AMFI, onderdeel van de Hogeschool van Amsterdam, het afstudeerevent Fashion Transit 09 in het World Fashion Centre Amsterdam. Fashion Transit 09 biedt ruim 130 afstudeerders van de afdelingen Branding, Management en Design een platform om hun werk te presenteren door middel van een expositie, catwalkshow en talkshow.

Expositie: Product vs. Process

Tijdens de expositie worden niet alleen de eindproducten van de afstudeerders getoond, maar ook delen uit het proces die tot dit resultaat hebben geleid. Een schets, concept of proefmodel kan net zo inspirerend zijn als bijvoorbeeld een scriptie, collectie, brand manual of forecasting boek. Zowel het tonen van de processen achter de producten, als de eindproducten zelf, geeft een interessant beeld van het talent van de afstudeerlichting 2009.

Catwalkshow

De catwalk showt dit jaar ruim dertig afstudeercollecties van de Fashion & Design afdeling. Diversiteit en persoonlijkheid zijn de sleutelwaarden waarmee de designers hun collecties hebben vormgegeven. In onzekere tijden zijn de handschriften nog nooit zo zeker geweest. Van recessie geen sprake; van reflectie en progressie des te meer.

Talkshow

‘Happy Crisis’ is het thema van de talkshow waarin drie Fashion & Branding en Fashion & Management afstudeerders onder leiding van Bahram Sadeghi (de Balie) in gesprek gaan met een aantal professionals uit de mode-industrie: Nanda van den Berg (kunst- historica), Henk Bremer (Vlisco) en Liesbeth in ‘t Hout (AMFI).

Mint magazine

Tijdens Fashion Transit 09 verschijnt tevens het jaarlijkse AMFI-magazine met het bijgevoegde AMFI graduation book. De editie van 2009 heet Mint. Derdejaars AMFI-studenten zijn verantwoordelijk voor concept, inhoud, vormgeving en productie onder leiding van docenten Frank Jurgen Wijlens en Charlotte Lokin.
