“The connection between religion and fashion, culture and clothing is what strikes me the most. When looking at young Muslim women in the Netherlands there is a large variety in the way they express themselves by means of fashion. They are both Islamic and fashion conscious, concealing and revealing are in sharp contrast. There are innumerable different ways of veiling, most likely to be influenced by trends in fashion.”
