“I got the inspiration for my collection “Sublime Sanctity” from influential medieval women. The lives of Christine de Pisan, Jeanne d’Arc and Pope Joan have fascinated me in particular.”

It was challenging for Shi Yan Wu to translate their historical stories into something relevant to modern fashion. She was not opting for a perspective solely from the world of fashion, as she considers the latter to be rather transiently and her primary objective was to transform the above mentioned historical tales into something timeless. Hence, the more general notion of the “powerful woman” became her guiding principle.
